The Agoura Stingrays program was conceived in part after watching an ESPN presentation on American runner Mikey Brannigan. Mikey Brannigan is one of eight teenagers to ever run a sub 4 minute mile. He is also autistic. His running abilities were able to be developed because his parents were able to place him in a Special Olympic running program at an early age. In part because of his athletic skills, Mikey Brannigan was well assimilated in his high school community, and was even elected prom king. One of our goals is to provide similar opportunities for social assimilation for our athletes and volunteers
